EI 2405: PRINCIPLES OF ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING

Theory: 

1.      Review of Semiconductor Device: Junction Diodes, LEDs, Photodiode etc. BJT: CE, CB, CC configuration, Transistors as amplifier/switch, FET MOSFETS, Frequency response of an amplifier. Analysis of transistor using h-parameter models. Introduction to IC Fabrication.

2.      General Theory of feedback amplifiers. Characteristics of negative feedback amplifiers. Advantages and effects of negative feedback. Analysis of feedback amplifiers. Basic theory of power amplifiers. Harmonic distortions, efficiency and power dissipation calculations. ClassA, ClassB, ClassAB & ClassC amplifiers.

3.      Principles of oscillators. LC Oscillators, Hartley & Colpitt Oscillators, Crystal Oscillators, RC Oscillators-Phase Shift & Wien Bridge Oscillators. Voltage control Oscillators.

4.      Operational Amplifier Parameters & characteristics. Differential Amplifier. Internal architecture of op-amp. Frequency response of op-amp. Non-inverting and inverting configurations. Linear & Non Linear applications of op-amp as V to I and I to V convertors, Integrator, Differentiator, Instrumentation Amplifier, Comparators & Schmitt Trigger. Square wave and Triangular wave generator. Voltage to Frequency and Frequency to Voltage convertors. Small signal Rectifiers. Small and Hold circuit. Logarithmic Amplifier.

5.      Radio Frequency Circuits: Review of Parallel tuned Circuits. Single and doubled tuned Amplifiers. Gain Bandwidth calculations. Frequency response of under coupled, critically coupled & over coupled circuits.
